how close is too close?

Post by tad danle » Tue, 20 May 2003 02:04:28

I am installing two antennas on the roof of my Grand Cherokee.  One for
an FT-100D that will be used primarily on 6 and 10 meters, and one for a
2/440 dual band rig.  Is there a way to determine how far apart the
antennas need to be in order to ensure I don't damage a receiver by
transmitting on the other rig?

Thanks in advance and 73,

IDEALLY, they should be no closer than 1/4 wavelength of the LONGER
wavelength.

Tad I have 3 antennas on my tahoe.  The 2 at the rear are at the roof
corners mounted on the roof rack.

I also have scanner, 2/440 and hf rigs in my vehicle.  HF antenna bumper
mounted.

I have not had any problems in the 2 years they have been there.
