my cb changes to static when car is turned on.....
how do I cure this.
works fine when car is off....

nope gmc truck siera extended cab 90s

There must be a way to clear up the noise which occurs when
engine is runnning.
How are cbs installed comercially to avoid this?

surre there is and since i am a GM guy my self i will help you .

1 : wire the radio to the battery , not the fuse box
2: if you have old spark plug wires get new one
     ( high shield ones , i got some from accel )
3 : get a power line niose filter , rflimited has some  
     ask your local cb shop about them .
4: check the ground on the engineusually runs from
    the block to the battery or right to the frame

those are the  4 main things you can do for engine noise , they should help a
