Turn off Burt, K1OIK

Post by Scott Ehrli » Sun, 10 Sep 1995 04:00:00

When I was in elementary school, I used to get picked on quite a bit.  I
also had a strong need to respond to all the remarks the kids made.

Then one day, I wised up and decided to ignore their comments and began
defending myself.

Soon enough, the kids stopped bothering me.  They went away.

As for Burt, I think the best defense for ourselves, the newsgroup, and
anything else Burt is involved in which can make us look bad is to ignore
him.

He has gotten what he wanted - publicity and our attention.

I think it is about time we turn off Burt, turn our attention back to the
matters we really care about (like ham radio), and redirect this
newsgroup back to its intended purpose - Amateur Radio.

Enough said.

Go ahead.
But even if ignored (which will never happen because there is always
someone who just has to say something-like you) I will be here.

Well, please allow me to say one more thing...  There are newsreaders
available which have kill files which will utterly filter out Mr. B.  News
Express for Windows is the one I use and I haven't been bothered by
you-know-who for some time now.  It's great!!

Using the newsread's 'KILL' option is a good solution: it doesn't
censor him, it just prevents you from having to read his contributions.

What we need is a KILL option that will also filter out all of the
followups from people who just can't sit on their hands.

You spell it "hypocrite" ... and you 'might' want to look up that
definition in the dictionary.. :-).
