I know a few of you have been bothered by messages posted to these
and other amateur newsgroups by K1oik in the last few days.
It saddens me to think that within the brotherhood of ham radio there
are people who would go out of their way in an attempt to stain the
character of a fellow ham.
I thought everyone would be happy to know that we shouldn't be
bothered any further by this gentlemen, as his internet account has
apparantly been terminated.
Whoever the little worm was, I hope he had fun while it lasted, and
I would like to commend AOL for quickly pulling the plug on him.
Amazing how easy it is to make a little piece of dirt disappear down
the drain. I would also like to thank all the other hams who were
involved in notifying AOL of the problem. Solving little problems
like this are a shining example of what hams can do when they stick
together as a group.
On behalf of the hams on internet I would also like to extend
apologies to the REAL Burt Fisher, K1OIK, and tell him that we
realized (well, most of us anyway) right from the first posting that
the messages posted by this impersonater were no where near
the quality or caliber of what Burt normally posts, and we hold
him in no way responsible for anything posted by this second rate
AOL imitation of a real ham.
