Is Lloyd more pathetic than the site, is it vice versa or tied?  I
clicked on and sure enough--anti-Semitism. The guy's a failure and has
to blame it on someone..duh.

While one can find anti-Semitism anywhere if they look hard enough, I just
returned from the site and found most was links to other news sources.
Clinton stiffed a bar for $50.00, women sell ing fake erect ***s.... Did
I miss something?

Nope!  I goaded them!  When I thought up that commercial, I knew it would
drive them nuts.  It took about 10 minutes on a SUNDAY night to concoct the
text, refine it and e-mail it to one of the Omega Radio Network professional
voices.  I had the finished product for use on my show the next evening.
I'll run it again tonight.  Lots of fun.

I'm getting active again after several years... I can't get ahold
of my manual for my Collins KWM2.  I'm trying to remember the
tune/load procedure, there was something about '235 mA' as
a magic number... I've tried the Virtual Collins site but they don't
have manuals online yet.  Can someone point/send me the
tune/load procedure, please?

I caution that the following is the procedure for tuning up a 32S-1
which I own and not the KWM-2 which I do not own.  But I think the
transmitter tuning procedure should be essentially the same.

First turn the mike gain fully counterclockwise (fully off).   Put
the emission switch to either upper or lower SSB.  Switch the meter
to read PA plate current.  Turn the vox gain control fully
counterclockwise until it switches the transmitter on in PTT mode.
Switch the meter to plate current reading.  It should read around 40
mils.  If it is off, adjust the bias pot on the power supply until
you get 40 mils. Then turn the vox gain to the right until it clicks
again and turns off the PTT.   (This need be done only once and
should not need readjusting unless you change the finals or some
other, major change is made to the unit.

Now peak the e***r preselector so you hear maximum band noise on
the band and frequency you intend to use.  Then set the tuning dial
to an apparently empty freq nearby.

Put emission switch to tune position.  Put meter switch to the grid
position.  Advance the mike pot until you get some grid current
(about 2-4 on the DB scale is good).  Readjust the preselector for
maximum grid current at that mike pot setting.

Now switch the meter to read PA plate current.  With the loading
control set at 50 (Ohms) dip the plate current with the plate tuning
control.

Switch emission switch to lock key and redip the plate.

Switch meter to read PA grid and advance mike control until the meter
is about 1/4 scale (about 4 db on the db scale).

Switch meter back to PA plate.  It should read about 250 mils at the
dip.  If it doesn't adjust the load control until it does.  Redip
after adjusting the load control.  If for some reason you can't get
250 mils (or close to it) after adjusting the load control you may
either have antenna trouble, final amp tube trouble or something else
ailing it.  When this adjustment is complete, reset the emission
switch to upper or lower sideband.  When speaking into the mike,
adjust the mike gain for about 6 db peaks on the lower scale when the
meter is in the ALC reading postion.

Note: When you get to the final tuneup stage, with the emission
switch in lock key, try to be quick about things.  You are putting
full drive at full voltage on the final tubes and they don't like
that for very long.  I try not to allow tuning for more than 5
seconds at a time.  If things are not quite right by then, I back off
the mike gain to zero for a few seconds to let the tubes cool a bit
and then readvance the gain to where it was before and continue
tuning.  You could do the same thing by switching out of lock key to
one of the SSB positions of course.

While the above is a bit complicated, it will become second nature
after a few times and you should be able to do the tuneup quite
quickly.

Good luck.

Once you do the final set of adjustments with the emission in

Yes, reading that helps me remember.  Thanks very much!  Hope to
see you on the air...
