It's well worth putting in the missing 2nd If transformer,
and the missing noise sq cct, as fitted to the JWR M2 version.
also produced as the Lucas 1001
SWM was the first to publish mods for it in 1982

A 2pole Xtal filter in the 10.695MHz first IF helps the RX,
and I was surprised Icom didn't sue them for copyright infringement
AFAIK they were made in Taiwan to their own design
Steve Terry
think I got a couple of them from "Ambit" (Cirkit now) in theQuote:> <snip>

Yes a bit funny that mind you ther might have been some back hadedQuote:> and I was surprised Icom didn't sue them for copyright infringement

The ambit 8KHz 10.695 2 pole Xtal filters are a bit sharp for 10FMQuote:> > <snip>

Something like a cheap 10M30 10.7 +-15KHz Xtal filter will do fine,
which works out as -10 +20KHz at 10.695,
or even a 50KHZ 10.7 ceramic filter if you can still get them ?
Anything's better than the 150KHz ceramic filter they use
to protect the internal 2nd mixer in the MC3357 chip
and dig out a Toko 7mm 455 IFT from a s****** radio,
for where they've left it out on the end of the CFU455 filter
in the ICOM 1050, but fitted in the JWR M2 version.
It improves 455 filtering outside the CFU ceramic filters B/W
and gives a better match to it
