The manual says this is possible, but it's unclear to me how you go
about setting it up. Do you need to set the trunked frequencies at the
beginning of the bank, and then the normal channels?

What I'm trying to do is create a single bank containing the trunked
ARINC chatter and the normal aircraft and tower stuff.

Any guidance will be much appreciated.

Yup, you can do it exactly as you described. You just turn trunking on
(menu+2+2), select your trunk type, then enter your freqs under the "trunk
channel" menu option.

Then pop out of that mode for the non trunked stuff.
