I recently acquired a Realistic (Radio Shack) Pro-2020 scanner. It has a "hum"
only when something is being received. If anyone out there has this model I am
interested in knowing if this is normal. I remember reading somewhere that a
certain amount of noise is normal in some of the ealier models of Radio Shack
programmable scanners. Thanks.

I have 3, one on the supplied wall wart and one on the 12v batts in the shack
and the third in the car, none of them hum, try a different power source, maybe
the wall cube went south

I've got the same thing on an even older PRO-2002, and I don't remember it
being there earlier in its life - I was thinking maybe it's getting old
and ready to blink out on me, but it's done it for a coupla years now with
no further problems. It could be that I have it next to my bed now,
listening in the quiet when I go to bed.

(Having posted this, I'm sure when I go to bed tonite, it'll be dead!)
