Computer aided scanning

OK, here is the scoop.  I am not new to scanning, but I do not know
ANYTHING about computer aided scanning.  I have been in the hobby on
and
off since I was10 years old.......21 long years ago.  The question I
have is, what is the best computer receiver to get started with.  I do
not need a whole bunch of bells and whistles.  I mainly scan the
non-trunked public service bands.  I also have an extra computer set
aside that I might even be able to use for this.  It is a 486 DX-2
66Mhz.  Don't most of these things run from DOS?  I am really curious
about this aspect of the hobby.  Also, any web sites of interest would
be greatly appreciated.  I have searched for some, but I haven't been
pleased with the outcome.  Feel free to email me, I will also check
this
post later.  Thanks for your time.

No. Most cater to Windows 95/98.

Stop by my Computer Control page:

You might take a good look at the BC245XLT, BC895XLT, IC-PCR100
and ICF-SC1PC. Good luck!
