PRO-30 NO MEMMORY????

Post by chains » Sun, 11 Aug 1996 04:00:00

Hi,my friend has a PRO-30 handheld that will not save any frequencies
programmed into the 16 memmory channels.
Even with new batteries the scanner will go blank shortly after
turning it off(and after having programmed it of course)
I know it is an old scanner but does anyone have any ideas on what
this problem could be??
Thanks for any input!!

The PRO-30 uses *two* sets of batteries.  It uses convential
AA cells to power the audio, RF, and IF stages and uses small
"hearing aid" style batteries for memory backup.  Make sure
you replace those batteries, too.

Those little button batteries for the memory are located inside the other
battery compartment. Open the compartment, remove the holder for the 6 x
AA cells and inside is a small panel one can slide over and then remove.
When replacing these batteries try to minimise touching them with your
fingers or clean off the surface. Body oils can oxidise on them a bit and
reduce contact. Replace that little panel and slide into place. Replace
AA cell holder and re-enter freqs! TTFN John
