NYC Combat Air Patrols?

Post by Harri » Thu, 04 Jul 2002 05:06:47

A few months ago, it was suggested that the Combat Air Patrols over NYC
would be scaled down or eliminated. In the months after 9/11, I heard
almost constant activity on 271.0 MHz.

Has anyone heard anything recently? Is there a new freq in use?

Thanks,
Art Harris, N2AH

It was reported last weekend on WABC-TV that the patrols were "quietly
discontinued..."

Thanks. I heard some action on 271.000. One of the "targets" turned out to
be a banner plane flying along the coast. Good to know they're up there
today (the fighters, not the banners :-)  ).
