Pro-2035 w/OS535 vs. Pro-2042 w/OS535 - any differences ?

I'd like to put together a computer-controlled scanning system. My local
RatShack has the Pro-2035 on clearance for $389 (vs. list $449 in last
year's catalog).

If my ultimate goal is to have an Optoscan 535 in the radio anyway, is
there any reason to buy the Pro-2042 for $429-$499 (depending on source)
rather than a 2035 for $389? I know about the differences in firmware
between the two (better channel mgmt. and freq. duplication checking on
the 2042), but my impression is that the computer control software will far
exceed the capabilities of the 2042 anyway.

Any impressions or suggestions would be most appreciated!

PS: While the local store has 1 or 2 2035's in stock, none of the area
stores have *any* 2042's. Are they that hard-to-get??

Pioneer Data in Woodburn OR is an authorized Radio Shack dealer and sells
the PRO 2042 for $379 delivered. The PRO 2035 sells for $339.
