resistor to allow the CPU to access the 824-849 and 869-894
ranges. The resistor that has to be moved is surface-mounted;
even with a decent soldering pen it was a tedious task.
The BC890XLT is not a wonderful performer as far as reception
goes. It balances the lousy specs with neato-gizmo bells and
whistles and 100 ch/sec scan and search.
Someone I know just purchased a new BC890XLT from Communications
Electronics and despite all the ***about the 890 having "a new
CPU", we unblocked the unit with no trouble.
