Wireless Headset Communicators at Football Game

On Thanksgiving, I was able to tune in to the coaches headset's during my son's HS football game.
They were on the 900 MHz cordless phone band.  Big fun, by the way.  My fellow fans loved to hear "the future".

I noted that at least one set was always transmitting during the whole game.  And there was
no doubling between the three sets.  Anybody know how these work?

My guess is that they can be set up as master/slave,  the master always transmits,  and when a
slave either pushes a talk switch,  or a voice activated switch turns on the slave carrier, the master
automatically stops transmitting.     Note that I did hear an very short periodic low level clicking sound every
500 mS or
so, switching data?    It could have been external interference, I'm not sure.

Not sure which model you were observing.  Most of the good ones
(Telex, Motorola) are full dupex (multiple frequencies) and most are
secure.  Given it was a high school game, perhaps they are using
something less expensive I'm not familiar with.
