I know which diode and I know its effect in general but SPECIFICALLY- If I
do get cut the diode and get the 2006 to scan faster, a)how much faster
will it scan?  b)will the speed button still offer a faster/slower option?
and c)will it possibly cause me to lose alot of freqs I might otherwise
catch, etc?

I figure the "c)" question is kinda a dumb one b/c I figure the idea is to
be able to scan bands faster for the ability to cover a range quicker.
BUT, I figure the original designer set speeds appropriate for the
processor, etc as to be as fast as it could be under the design
conditions- I figured if it could scan faster accurately, they would've
made it that way to begin with...  no???

Thanks In Advance!!! This is important as a soddering gun is not readily
available to fix it if I'm disappointed by my surgery!  :-)

Bill Cheek, the guy that created the CE-232 computer interface for the
2004-2005-2006 says that the replacing the crystal speed-up mod sometimes
messes up the CE-232.  (Maybe the scanner goes too fast for the serial
connection to the computer.)  I wonder if it is compatible with the
Optoscan-456?
