Hey all,
I'm about to buy my first scanner and plan to mount it in my truck.  I
already have an onboard computer ("brick pc" intel celeron 733 w/
256mb ram and 1gb of flash storage) with an in-dash LCD display, so
I'd like a unit that supports computer interfacing.  I'd also like
trunk tracking as I live in a large city, and want as wide a reception
range as possible (2.5ghz at the high end) but don't absolutely have
to be able to scan anything past 1.5ghz.  I'm trying to decide between
two uniden units, specifically the BC780XLT and the BC895XLT.  What is
the most versatile and full-featured trunking scanner on the market?
Price isn't a huge concern but I want to keep it sane.

Both the 780xlt and the 895xlt are superb scanners Matt. I own both and
can't say enough about them. The 780 has several more advanced features over
the 895 and thats reflected in its price. Both models can be computer
controlled, either way you can't go wrong.

One thing you might want to consider is.....will you ever need your scanner
to track digital (Apco 25 standard) systems??  If thats the case, you might
want to wait until Uniden unveils their new digital tracker, 785xlt, which
is supposed to be released later this year. The rumored prices of around
$600.00 sound steep, so if you don't need it, save your money !!!

the new scanner comes seperate from the digital card. if you don't need
digital now, the scanner is somewhere ~$300. the card is ~$300-$350
