Jamie,

The backlight for this scanner can be turned off or set to automatic
(illuminates each time the squelch is broken). To switch between
the modes, hold the light button for a couple of seconds. Great
radio!

I'm getting ready to purchase the BC245XLT TrunkTracker, but I just have one
question:

I understand the backlight comes on whenever there is a transmission, is there
any way to disable that feature if necessary? I tend to sleep with my scanner
near my head so I don't miss anything during the night, and that light could
damn near drive me nuts! LOL

This is an option and can be turned on and off at your discretion.

If a BC245XLT is in the dark forest, and the backlight comes on, is there
any light? :)

Sleeping with a scanner would drive me nuts.

hold down the light button for a few seconds, you will hear a beep and it is
turned off. do the same to turn it back on.
It is a great radio, my third scanner and I like it the best

This scanner is excellent!.........the light can be disabled by pressing on the
LIGHT BUTTON wait till you hear it BEEP.
