Now you can Trunk Track EDACS using a single receiver under computer
control.

cool - I had hoped to get trunker doing single-scanner tracking - sounds like someone beat me to it and hopes to make $$$ from it. I
wonder...

1) how it deals with the dreaded anti-scanner beeps?

2) who wrote it and how much of the net's effort was used?

Yes... who/what is the "third party" software that is mentioned on the
web page?

Anyone heard back from Opto on this?

Yes, I spent about 45 minutes on the phone with an Opto rep. He was not
willing to divulge who produced the software, but said that both the
software and the box should be available together from Grove within 2
weeks. Opto, however, will only sell the box directly.

Hi Neal,

Here's what I know.

Yes, it does only require 1 radio and 1 com port.

Part of the beep. If I guess it is somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 of a
beep.

Quote:>2) who wrote it and how much of the net's effort was used?

It is a hardware and software solution. Some hardware is inside the
OptoCom.   As for the net's effort - the program was written from the
ground up and uses no code that was posted from the net.

It was an over 2 year development effort. In defense of the author,
they tried to keep it reasonably priced (while knowing that dealers
need to make some money too)

And for performance, I tested it and it works flawlessly for about 15
or so systems in NJ and PA.

will it do EDACS and Motorola talkgroups and conventional scanning at the same
time? I would guess that, by the sound of it that the Edacs is standalong.

Is the software available now? I had heard it would be a few weeks. You have it? Where would the best place to get it all be?

Thanks,

Dan Rollman

Is this an actual EDACS tracker or just another 'beep' eliminator?

With words like "1/2 to 1/4 beep" it sounds suspicious ...

Suspicious? For what reason? Because it works?

The software follows all EDACS call types except mobile data and
encrypted calls. It is NOT another beep eliminator. It connects to the
OptoCom with one serial cable only. There's no discriminator tapping
needed. So it's a one radio/one com port solution.

If anyone has questions on the validity or  perfomance if this
software, contact me directly. I have been beta testing it for quite
some time. I am very familiar with the software's features and
capabilities. And I can furnish other references (those that have seen
the program in operation) if needed.

It is available from Grove or Lentini Communications (answers a
previous question in this thread).
