This NG is apalling

As an occasional NG visitor looking for information on the scanners I own, I
have found that this NG has very litle to do with informative, useful
exchanges, and seems to be more of a forum for personal vendettas,
backstabbing, slander, threats, profanity, hearsay, finger pointing, etc.
It is even worse than rec.radio.cb

Can't you all just get along?

Actually, Dale, I still get lots of good information and help from this
group.  The off-topic messages are quite easy to identify from the
subject line!  8-)

Some would prescribe the use of a twit filter on your reader, but I've
found even the loosest of cannons have gems of knowledge that we can all
benefit from.  8-)

Good signals

When was the last time you were in rec.radio.cb??  I visit it everyday and
this newsgroup as well as r.r.amatuer.policy and .misc have more bickering
than r.r.cb.

Can you get along?  That's the real question Dale.  You can ask "you
all" to get along.  But they're pretty much gonna do what they want to
do.  Quite frequently, pleas like yours don't achieve very much.  I
wasn't sure whether you knew that or not.  Not much you can do about the
way others post on the unmoderated side of the USENET.

You'll pretty much have to ignore the clutter or employ a newsreader
that filters out the clutter you don't want.

Are you a newbie?

If anyone remembers, a flame war a few months back (on rec.radio.cb I
believe) erupted into someone receiving a snail mail bomb killing the
receiver and injuring the guys mother....

Dale, thank you for your insight!

Yes, we are trying to clean up this NG.  Some of the guilty parties
have stopped, but as you see some of them are more persistant.

Think of this NG as having been attacked by cancer.  It requires
massive treatment & a long time, but we WILL recover!

Hang in there, it will improve.

If my memory is correct that bomb was allegedly from a person who had
been ripped off via mail order.

Yep, that is what it was about.  City Slicker, I have seen you around
rec.radio.cb. Which do you think is worse, this one or that one (in terms of
flame wars that have nothing to do with the topic of the group.)?

Who is this "we" you keep referring to? You are not authorized to speak
for anyone but yourself.

Here's that "we" again. Most of us HAVE recovered, actually. You most
likely never will.

Quote:> Hang in there, it will improve.

Are you leaving? How soon?

Some assembly required.
Batteries not included.
Void where prohibited.

Those who wish to improve this newsgroup.  Perhaps you are not
one of them.

Mackey, I wish I could agree with you on this one point but alas, I can't.
This newsgroup will always be this way as long as you are here instigating
people. You see, most people would not flame if they were not pushed. And
let me tell you, you know how to push people to their limit.

When YOU leave or keep quiet things will improve.

Also, please pick a name and stick with it. You are getting around my twit
filters and I don't like having to either read your ***or skip over it.

WRONG!  See how much shings have slowed down within the last few days
after a few certain individuals stopped their harassment of this NG!

In the end of April/beginning of May theings were very quiet on the
NG & all was on topic, INCLUDING MY POSTS.  Then Bill started causing
problems on the NG & flaming!

I have browsed around this NG as well as the Ham NG and some of the
Photo NG and they are all about the same.

There is only so much that a subject can be discussed and many times
there is no clear answer because of the variables involved.  All you
have left are the opinions and you know what they say about those.

If it weren't for the new people asking questions that sometimes
rekindles the flame (innocently on their part) there would be a lot less
activity in these groups.  Unfortunately, the newbies get scared off
because of the BS and become lurkers as opposed to contributors. The
contributors that are serious about their hobby get frustrated and stop
contributing.  I have seen this in the CB group in the past 9 months.
This is truly a loss because new *** is being lost and the experienced
are closing their doors.

However, thats life, people and some of what makes it interesting. It is
a shame that more people don't let the trouble makers know directly that
they are fed up with the BS or just ignore the posts all together.
Heck, its easier to ignore someone here then it is on channel 19.

Some people take these NG to serious. They will not accept the fact that
there are people that participate just to yank someone's chain.  Ignore
these people and be happy.
