What new scanners sold today receive (or can be modified to
receive) cellular phone frequencies?  And what do they cost?
I'd like to find a good mobile unit without spending $700.

You may have a hard time finding any NEW scanners that receive Cell
phone freqs, since the law was passed that made it illegal to
manufacture in the U.S. or import scanners that received these
freqs or were easily modifiable after 4/94.  Your best bet would
be a used one.

Au Contraire, _scanner breath_ !

I have a BC300XLT that I  _don't_  listen to cell images ( 1005 - 1030 Mhz )

Got it from EEB in Vienna, VA for $369.00

Those cell image freqs in the BC3000XLT are 1005.5-1018MHz where you're
actually hearing 10kHz steps for every 5kHz step you see on the display.

Also, there are images in the 360-385MHz range.
