First, return it and get a Pro-93 at the local Rat Shack.  Awesome units.  Then
e-mail me and I will personally assist you in programming (via e-mail) your new
unit.

Contact www.scannermaster.com  and go to the "store"  they offer
programming for the 780.  But, it will cost you.  I looked into it, I
forget exactly how much it was going to cost, but you provide him with
"ALL" the cities, counties and such, and he will program it for you.

If you get the winscan 780 program, I believe he can program all the freqs,
then just Email you the file.  Load the file into the program, connect to
your scanner, and Viola' everything is done.

I also find it difficult to program my 780, but what I did, was buy one of
the 780 software programs, plug in all the freqs, and then send it to the
radio.  I found it much easier, in fact, I haven't even read the manual for
my 780 yet.  Most of the programs I have used (winscan780, scanpro,
trunkstar) all have the function of entering a freq, then using a pulldown
menu, you can select trunked, or conventional, Edacs, and so forth.  So, if
you choose not to go the scanner master route, try the trunkstar 15 day
trial, and see if it works for you.  Of course you need a 9 pin serial
cable, that either you can get from radio shack, or if you buy some
programs, the cable comes with.
Sorry for the run on sentences.
If you need more help, feel free to Email me.

Hope that helped,
