What are the performance differences between them? Is one any better
than the other receiving wise? I realize the computer interface is a plus
but what about the receiver?
thanks,
Ken

Having played around extensively with both, I would go for the MVT7100 everyQuote:> What are the performance differences between them? Is one any better

The Yupiteru also has the performance edge over the AOR, even though it is
considerably cheaper here.
Yupiteru manufacturing quality is excellent. AOR is not always so.
In Europe, the MVT7100 outsells the AR8000 by a factor of 10 or so.

I've done a side-by-side comparison of the ar8000 and the mvt7100Quote:>What are the performance differences between them? Is one any better

I find the Yupi to be slightly more sensitive. And, it seems to
be less prone to fading signal dropouts. However, the difference is
not much.
Compared to the Yupiteru, the one thing I don't like about the AOR
has to do with esthetics. The Yupi has a more solid feel (I hate
the loose fitting AOR knobs), a much nicer vinyl case, and more even
keyboard/display lighting. Of course, the AOR does have more features
on its side...

I own the Yupi and went to Tucker Electronics to play around with theQuote:>Compared to the Yupiteru, the one thing I don't like about the AOR

: Having played around extensively with both, I would go for the MVT7100 every

: marginal like all scanners, but the Yupiteru is very much more user friendly. A
: good test of any scanner is -can you use most of its' features without ever

I concur with Richard. I have both scanners and find that the
performance of the Yupiteru is much better. The Yupi performs much much
better on HF SSB. I was going to sell the Yupi when I got the AR8000 but
decided to keep the Yupi because it is a much better all around performer.

Personally, I love my Yupi, And am waiting for Yupi to make
a combative product to the AOR8000.
And when Yupi makes it AOR will definately fall to the wayside
for example the aor1500 vs mvt7100 debate that flooded this
newsgroup only a year and a half ago.
Come on Yupi give computer links, band graphs and 5000 channels!!!
