NT4, scanner and NT Explorer crash

Post by CADDma » Mon, 11 Oct 1999 04:00:00

Dear Sir,

Hi. Is anyone out there informed on NT4 enough to assist me in solving my
problem.

This is my long-term, ongoing problem:

I am on NT4,SP3, on a Compaq Deskpro XL 5100. I installed many scanners
(drivers only, no app software) on this system, only to discover that the
UMAX 2000 functions with the least trouble. This is what happens: after a
month or so of using the scanner, NT4 Explorer (i.e., file manager) begins
to crash upon opening other apps, when it is a secondary app. I get the Dr
Watson data dump, which ranges from 6 meg to 14 meg in length. I get the
"feeling" that there is a problem inherent in NT4, somehow related to the
Parallel port communications. There is a SIIG EPP/ECP PCI card to interface
with the scanner.

Anyone have any ideas concerning what may be wrong with NT4 to cause so much
trouble?

True solutions appreciated. It seems that I can't get anything out of
Microsoft, and am once again left*** out in the wind.

Thanks in advance,

Chris H

Sir,

I believe you are directing your "scanner" question to the wrong group.
This group is for
radio scanners. You could direct your question to 2 groups that I know of.
They are:
alt.comp.periphs. scanner  or comp.periphs.scanners
