Help wanted: Regency 1040 Scanner

Post by Robert B. Nevil » Fri, 02 Sep 1994 09:32:51

I recently picked up a Regency 1040 scanner at a good price. The radio is in
excellent condition pysically, and accepts frequencies into the VFO without
incident. When I select a channel (one of ten) to hold the frequency, the radio
responds as if the frequency has in fact been stored in that frequency.

If I switch to SCAN mode, the radio will not lock up on the stored frequency...
it appears the frequency did not get written to channel RAM. Before opening up
the radio, I'm hoping someone with a schematic (or working knowledge of this
radio) can answer the following question: Is the RAM an integral part of the
CPU in this radio, or is there a separate RAM chip (and if there is, where is
it and what type of chip is it)? I'm assuming the RAM (for channel storage, not
VFO or 'scratch') is not part of the CPU, since the CPU seems to be working
just fine otherwise.
