Does anyone know if I will be able to pick up satellite signals using a
Pro-2004 scanner hooked up to a 18" DSS dish?
If so what sort of stuff would I pick up?
When I used to be into TVRO I had a book on satellite TV and satellites in
general and I remember there were all sorts of sub-carriers to monitor among
other things.
I realize that the DSS dishes depending on what provider you subscribe to(mine
is RCA system. Provider is Directv) you have to point your dish in a certain
direction and leave it there. However, it will be interesting to see what you
can pick up.
Whatever I pick up I will post a list to this NG for others to reads and
tryout.

I think there is a significant amount of DC voltage flowing between the dish
and a satellite receiver for polarity control.

Need to make a correction: I own a Pro-2006, not a Pro-2004.

Not a chance! The DSS 18 inch dish and associated feedhorn are designed to
work at Ku band (around 14 GHz).
