Personally (I'm no ace of reading headers but) I think you've been
spammed... Read this first Received from header. RS with all their
$$$$ using AOL? There are certain programs out there that spammers use
to change an e-mail header. Not to mention in the body of the email
the constant spelling and grammatical errors (RS cant afford a spell
checker or a good secretary???!!!)
This is my humble opinion. Keep using it and IF it is real let then
spend the cash to take you to court then change the name. But I think
this maybe the work of a few on this NG that have always bashed
ScanShack (Due to jealousy ?????)

You have to read the received headers from the bottom up to determine
the path from the sender to the recipient.

The following items are my opinion only:

1) Your website (ScanShack) is a great site and I hope you don't cave in to these
people.
2) A comment about their intimidation letter. It says, "(TPI) owns numerous
federal registrations for its internationally recognized RADIOSHACK and family of
other SHACK marks for a wide variety of consumer products and
services, including scanners." It does NOT say that they have any rights to
ScanShack, just that they have the rights to a FAMILY of other shack names!!!
3) It is my opinion that this 'email' from RatShack is purely an intimidation
letter without any merit or basis in fact.

Closing: I am not a lawyer, but have had several years of law. I strongly feel
that this email you recieved is purely an attempt at intimidation. I would ask
them to advise them to furnish a 'specific list' of all registrations that they
claim (they can't), ask them to cite what 'registration' or law that they claim
supports their position and that they advise this information to you in written
form. Bet they fold like a house of cards!!!

more trademarks/service marks for TPI.... the company that owns Tandy, RS, etc.
She is also the person who (allegedly) wrote an e-mail demanding the word
"Shack" be taken out of a certain web site name and information contained on
that web site be removed as there was a possibility of an affiliation that may
have been misunderstood....etc, etc, etc....
Bottom line: She is (allegedly) part of the legal department at Tandy.
