Static

Does anyone know how to get rid of the static in a vehicle, that you get on
your scanner ? I have tried different grounds, and also antennas, but that
didn't help. If anyone can help, I would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance.

wire it directly to the battery, both positive and negative terminals.

What's the year, make, and model of the vehicle?  In many cases you
can get help from the manufacturer on reducing RFI from the vehicle.
Many of today's cars and trucks have some annoying interference from
the ignition system computers, fuel pumps, and other electronic noise
makers.

It would also help if you could describe the "static" and if it
corresponds with anything such as engine speed, whether it's present
before the engine is turning over, and other useful tidbits of
information.
