Need scanner recommendation for Winston Cup races

Hi,

I'm interested in purchasing a scanner for listening to drivers and
their pit crews during Winston Cup races. I see several scanner sources
that sell Uniden Bearcat for this use, which have had the external
volume jack modified for higher volume output for use with headphones.

It appears from monitoring this news group people seem to like the
Radio Shack scanners better? Is this due to the more mods being
available for the RS?

Can the Radio Shack scanners have the external volume modified?

I'm currently looking at the bearcat SC-150 or 220XLT handhelds
with 800MHz. What RS scanners do you recommend in the same price
range $160-$225?

Thanks!

I have a Sportcat 150 that I bought from Racing Electronics.  My
brother-in-law had a RS scanner comparable to the 150.  Sold it and
bought the same as mine. Sportcat does what we want for our purposes.
