PRO 92 or PRO 94

Post by Av8t » Wed, 10 Nov 1999 04:00:00

I'm looking for my first Trunk scanner and want to get options on the Pro92 and
Pro94 models.  And before you say it, I've had BearCat (Uniden) scanners in the
past and really don't like them. I've had RadioShacks and like them!

Next question, does anyone make a Trunk Scanner which also covers MilAir freqs?
MilAir is my primary listening.....

pro 94 covers some of the 200 range, but the pro-92  has more trunking
capabilities (eventhough it only holds 1/2 of the frequencies).

Well, the older 895 does mil air, but if you meant handheld and/or the
newer models, then I don't know of one. But please let me know if you
come up with one because I'd be interested too. :-)

I have both the bc245xlt and the pro92(5days) while the 92 is a little bit
harder to learn and program , it has more channels, can scan both trunked and
conventional at the same time, has alpha numerics , can scan motorola, edacs and
ltd. in the trunked mode. It also has P/L capabilities. You can get the 92 for
350.00 or the 245 for as little as 200. Matter of choice.Neither has military
air , the 94 does but it can not scan both trunked and conventional at the same
time, big drawback.

Check out the new RS catalog---- Pro-2052 trunking, edacs and milair. It
says in the catalog that it isn't available until Nov.15, but if you order
it and have it delivered to your hose, it will probably be at your door
before the local RS can get one in.
I ordered mine today!!

    29-54, 108-512, 806-960 (cell/ blk), 1240-1300 Mhz
follows Motorola i,ii,i/ii, and Ge Ericson(edacs) trunked systems
    built in RS-232 serial interface
     20 priotity channels
     Data skip and search skip

 mike
no, i don't work for RS, I just happened to have the catalog right here!

The PRO 94 cover 216.00 - 225.00 which I believe is a ham band - not mi
air.

PRO 94 frequency coverage:

29-54 mhz               5khz steps
108-136.975 mhz         12.5 khz steps
137-174 mhz             5 khz steps
216-224.995 mhz         5khz steps
406-512 mhz             12.5 khz steps
806.0000-823.9375 mhz   12.5khz steps
851.0000-868.9875 mhz   12.5 khz steps
896.1125-956.0000 mhz   12.5 khz steps
1240.0000-1300.0000 mhz 12.5 khz steps

Also only the 108-1369875 (civ air band) is AM rest is FM.

The 94 doesn't cover any MilAir, You're thinking of the low 200's which is a
ham band.  If the PRO94 covered MilAir I would have bought it!  :0)
