Base Scanner Antenna Question?

Base Scanner Antenna Question?

Post by Mark Fitzgeral » Tue, 11 Apr 2000 04:00:00

Hi,

I live on the east coast of Canada and we
get lots of snow, ice and wind.

I need an excellent high-gain good scanner antenna for my  40 foot
tower. I live in the sticks and that is why I need high-gain. It has to
be able to take what old man winter can throw at it.

Need recomendations please and Thank You!

Base Scanner Antenna Question?

Mark, give the hustler discone a try.  I have one at 35 feet on my tower
since 1986 and it works great in PA.

Base Scanner Antenna Question?

Recommendation from Ontario, Canada- Use a Delhi 925 VHF/UHF/FM TV antenna
on a rotor  with no booster or preamp and with RG 6 coax such as Belden 9114
or 9116 connected to the antenna with a 300 to 75 ohm matching transformer.
The antenna should be mounted vertically if possible. This might surprise
you!
