I have the CE-232 with the 1.3 version of the Software for my pro-2006.
I purchased the Pre assembled version for $240.00.I have had no problems
with the Hardware or software.  I have just picked up a Pro-43 and I am
going to get the personality module to program and control the pro-43 as
well. Bill Cheek is a local San Diegan. His BBS is a great source of
FREQ's mods and Tech Support for the CE-232 and scanners in general. He
also writes the World Scanner Report as well as the Scanner Modification
handbooks 1 and 2.

The installation took the better part of two weekends. I took my time and
had no problems following his printed instructions. Lots of pictures and
Diagrams.

He also has an internet address but I dont have that in front of me. He
prefers the BBS for tech support.

The Auto Program File is really easy to use. The APF format is :

Lable ,Channel #, Freq, WFM/NFM/AM,Delay , lockout, Whatever you want the
Lookup to show as the scanner stops on a frq.

I have used some of the scripts supplied with the CE-232 but have not
written any of my own.

You can create a reject file for all of the Birdies in your scanner.
You can change the delay time of the scanner.
You can autolog activity on any of the 10 search banks.
You can automatically lock all zero freqs.
You can automatically lock out any frequancy that has activity to see what
channels are left and remove them.
You can have the computer unlock all non zero Locked channels.

The features I like best are the Auto Programming and the Lookup feature.
When the scanner stops on a frequency the computer will look in a file you
specify for the user of that frequency and display it on the screen. The
file format is the same as the APF format above.

3rd party Software is available that will run the scanner as well.

The CE-232 just Extends the Functionality of your Pro-2004,5,6 the Opto
shuts off your processor and uses its own for control. When I purchased
the CE-232 the Opto was not available. I still think I would purchase the
CE-232 If I had to make the choice today. I'm just a satisfied user, I
have no ties to Bill or Commtronics.

If you need any more info let me know.

Okay here's the deal...I'm about to buy one of these two computer boards
for my Pro-2006.  Question is, which is the better board?  The Comtronix is
about a hundred bucks cheaper than OptoElectronics' board.  I'm planning
on interfacing my scanner, with one of the two boards, and a DDI.
Anyone have experience(s) with either of the two?

Thanks.  Email preferred.
