Yeah, but I don't even know (or care) where they run these races. The
Toronto Molson Indy is run in downtown Toronto, so a scanner listener can
hear these races without difficulty. In fact, I'm located about 2 miles from
the Indy, and I can still receive some comms. This Cascar thing is of no
interest to me since I don't know any of the drivers. (I'm not saying it's
not worth listening to, just not my thing)
My favorite experience was when the 1993 World Series was happening. Since,
at the time, I worked the afternoon shift and was located 1 block from the
Skydome, I listened to the CBS director calling the game from the remote
truck. FWIW, that guy was directing 15 (or so) cameras, live in real time
over the entire network. Talk about a high stress gig! Like another poster
mentioned, the between 'chatter' was as interesting as the game coverage.
