Hello, Robert,
Since no one has given you an answer yet -- at least online -- I'll
give you my partial answer. We tested a 7100 and 8500 side by side
for sensitivity at several points around 400 MHz using a signal
generator and a precision attenuator and found the 8500 at least 10 dB
more sensitive than the 7100. I cannot attest to this but my
understanding is that the 8500 also outperforms the 7100 in terms of
dynamic range and noise level... but we didn't run those tests
ourselves.
That said, we're keeping the 7100 -- the 8500, built as well as it
is, feels flimsy next to the "tanklike" 7100. (The 8500 is somewhat
bigger, too.)
