Cellular - Modem interception

Is it possible to rx and display the data that is sent over the cell phones.
For example if someone is listening to Cellular and picks up a data
transmission from the beginning and records it on tape.  Can this be played
into a telephone to a modem and it be understood by a comm program????    Just
a thought.

Yes, this is possible.  At least you have to turn your modem
to a listen mode or it will try to hand shake with the non-
exist dest. side.  I assume the s/n ratio of the recording is
high enough.  Needless to say, the protocol must be the same.
