TRUNK TRACKER/BANK ROBBER??

Post by Thomas Gast » Sun, 27 Apr 1997 04:00:00

I was recently informed from a usually reliable source that someone,
using a "demo trunk-tracker" somewhere in Southern florida was caught
attempting to rob a bank. (Seems TTracker didn't work well enough).
Although this seems like news in itself, I am told that it has raised a
possible injunction, NOT FROM MOTOROLA, but from the feds. They may be
arguing that the nature of Trunked Communications is such that an
"expectation of Privacy" is expected by the users and that as such,
Cellular type restrictions may be imposed on "new equipment" capable of
trunk following.  This may be unlikely, but in this day and age, nothing
would surprise me.

But still, has anyone else heard of this moron in Florida or wherever
else it may have been? My friend attended a Motorola Seminar last week
and was told that Motorola has "no plans to file in regards to the Trunk
Tracker (they want to sell new Astro systems). Anybody with contacts at
Uniden?

I live in Georgia, and I haven't heard anything about it.

But neither would I get all wrapped around the axle about it either!
On rare occasions, some nut-cases (mosty in the drug business)
have been caught and arrested with scanners.

I just don't think scanners will be outlawed anytime soon.

Nor would they at all if every scanner owner wrote to both their
representaive and senator about it.....and keep writing.  A few
phone calls wouldn't hurt either to both their local and Washington
office.

Amen David!!!
 I am a scanner listener,licensed ham,and a gun owner.The problem is,I
like most of the rest of us,do not have the money that the cellular
industry and the anti-gun ***S do.I read with great interest
everything I can find about all three subjects and it amazes me the
mis-information that is spread around Washington.
Unfortunately the ***S in Congress and the Senate are being fed all
this ***and they treat it like Mosses carried it down off the mountain
on a stone tablet.
The goal of the government is to make us into a nation of eunics,no
guns,no scanners,no ham radio,no personal freedom.
The louder we are,the more they will listen to us.The best defense we
have is to speak facts. If you notice the anti-gun people will spew
whatever bullshit any two-bit professor chooses to put on paper. No
matter how stupid or ludicrous. It's the same with the cellular
people. They want everyone to beleive that we are all listening to cell
calls.I have listened to them and they are boring. They make it seem as
if we are causing them to lose millions of dollars every year.If they
were actually concerned for their customers and not their profits, this
wouldn't even be an issue.
Ok,I'll step down from the soap box now.Everyone that reads this group
should,if you haven't already,register to vote.And write your
congressmen and senators.Let them know, nicely, that we are NOT going to
take this lying down!

 Take care and 73,
 Larry Ke4rur
Ham,scanner hobbyist, and licensed concealed carry gun owner

This just makes it ever more clear that the government hates scanners
and wants to slowly remove them which is exactly what they are doing
with guns too.

We must unite and become a political force and make lots of noise!

(like a bomb?)

The fruitcake in Texas used a scanner to monitor public saftey. That is
what lead him to attack his neighbor when one of his buddies was
arrested.

This week the FCC is to announce new frequencies to be used by US
agencies and local public saftey in coordinated activites against home
grown terrorists. I saw this on CSPAN last night. I am certain that it
will become illegal to monitor those frequencies.

The gov't hates anything that allows citizens to find out how corrupt they
are.. Even if it was a $10.00 AM Radio  if they were talking there it would
be illegal for you to listen when they know they could get screwed by
someone listening.. Just ask any congressman who has used an Analog
Cellphone   bet they don't use it anymore :)

Too bad that Politicians all lie...  Sounds like a nice job  lie and raise
money with those same lies..   Damn I love that idea  ***THE CITIZENS
GIVE LIARS THE POWER

NOTE: If you don't like my statement tough  I don't really care cause its
my opinion

REMEMBER::   Big Brother will be watching you soon   might be already

We will have a hobby but it will be black market with radios from Europe
and Asia without the stupid US restrictions on em.  Then the Feds will
realize they F'd up cause they won't be able to go to Radio Shack or XYZ
Communications and find out who bought  a scanner if they really needed to
know that is..  I know one thing make scanners illegal  I will be living
for free off of the taxpayers in a nice prison and be sentenced to a
mandatory time so some ***er or rapist will get out early

what would be more interesting is to see how the Freedom of
Information Act is re-valuated and the subtraction of certain words
from the body ... a very usual tactic of peope in power afraid to
 be heard...

What will happen to the publisher of this info?  Will they be
put in the same bedroom as CHILD ***OGRAPHER"S?

Now that we don't have Russia to kick around anymore all those
people employed then are now concentrating on the citizens of
the USA who want to know more....

the govt., under the helpful absence of bill clinton, is turning
to taking our privacy away...bit by bit, freq. by freq., video by
video, picture by picture and then we become what occurred in
     Fahrenheit 451....

     bill conduit
     etc.

look at how many laws were ok'd into law by the pres who did not
try to override any legislation that takes away liberties from the
people who elected him.  note how him/her don't want people to
know the story about whitewater and why a senator killed himself
and why illegal contributions were "unknown" by someone who is as
smart and in control as he is....

he just does a Jimmy Carter and smiles his accusers away.....
