Does anyone know if this Trunk Tracking radio is or will be modifable for
Cellular?  Thanks.

According to the FCC docs that were posted on the BC-780 listserv, no it's
not modifiable for cellular.  Something about the circuit being fused in some
sort of heat-applied material which would be diffcult, if not impossible.

It won't.  Uniden has had to submit to the FCC plenty of documentation -
photos, descriptions and independent test results - to show that the 780 (as
with ALL new scanners) cannot be easily modified to receive cellular
frequencies.

Doubtful .... very doubtful ...All new scanners are made so that they can't
be modified for cell ...

Last I heard the date has been pushed back to Oct/Nov, which means we'll be
lucky to see it by Christmas.

I will no doubt get the 780 just for trunking, but the new AR8600 base/mobil
is the one to get for full continuous coverage and a huge alpha display,

It WON'T be, it's AGAINST the law!  This applies to each and every scanner
made since ECPA-no exceptions.

I just called about one today and they are having software problems, I was told

the 780 would be out around December/January time frame...  I hope Santa brings

me one...
