I believe it's time for all Hams who want to preserve the original
tennants of Amateur Radio, to demonstrate their contempt for that
blatant opportunist, W5YI. CQ magazine has become a rag that allows
Freddy to promote NCI and his money making enterprises, while ignoring
any counterpoint. I urge all subscribers to cancel immediately -- and
tell the CQ rag-editors why you are doing so.

A publisher of a magazine or any other printed material doesn't have to present
a counterpoint. It's a little thing called the First Amendment.

Maybe you should be afraid. It's not wise to make anonymous people mad. Many
of us who used to be up front with our ID's have had problems. You may get
subscriptions to embarrassing magazines coming to your house to which you
didn't subscribe. You may get threatening snail mail. You may get email
bombed. Or worse. It's hard to fight back against this type of thing so if
you read anonymous posts that are reasonable then consider them and give
reasonable answers. If not ignore them. Further I think most of us who post
here are hams, but of course a license is not required on the net, which
probably has a lot to do with why ham radio has come to what it is today.

IT IS HIS OPINION
to express, ALSO he seems to have paid for the right to put it there.

I am no fan of CW, but did learn it long enough for the 13wpm and
then new call KM5RT.

At least CQ magazine has the guts to be a conunterpoint to QST which in my
opinion is very biased.

I like "CQ" magazine .. no more biased than QST. You just don't like
the ideas wxpressed in CQ/

I got a better idea. Why don't we boycott the ARRL. W5YI does a good
job. Those ***s in newington are USELESS. Their they sit,
collecting the BIG buck saleries from their members. sense
deregulation the FCC has even said that the ARRL does not have
the ear, of the commission. Free yourself from the ARRL party line.

I subscribe to "CQ" and most certainly DO NOT support a boycott. However,
I DO wonder about the presence of W5YI on the masthead of a magazine in
which he hawks his wares. (You know, "journalistic integrity" and all that
jazz). Years ago, Peter Norton was a columnist for on of the PC rags whilst
also marketting products. To their credit, the magazine eventually let
Norton go, to pursue his primary bidness. Maybe "CQ" should do likewise.

Just a thought.
