ICOM IC-T8A MODS

* Expansion for receive
Push and hold BAND and SOL keys while turning POWER is on.

After Expansion, the following approximate
frequencies and Modes become available:
50 -  75.99 Mhz            NBF
76 - 107.99 Mhz            WFM
108 - 135.99 Mhz           AM
136 - 174    Mhz           NFM
174 - 229.99 Mhz           FM
(222 doesn't receive well at all!)
300 - 399.99 Mhz           AM
400 - 599.98 Mhz           NFM
600 - 824    Mhz           NFM
848 - 869    Mhz           NFM
894 - 999.99 Mhz           NFM

* Expansion for transmit:
- remove the battery and antenna
- remove the 2 black screws below the battery contacts
- remove the nut that holds the antenna jack in place
(snap ring pliers or hemostats work well)

Remove D54 on the LOGIC boards expand VHF and UHF bands
137-229 mhz high band
350-500 mhz uhf band
(where the heck is D54?)

Remove D61 on the LOGIC board to expand 50 MHz band
50-65 mhz low band
(where the heck is D61?)

it's all there ...

and it was everything on the newsgroup a long time ago, you
can find it with dejanews ... with some other options also,
like the meaning of most of the other diodes ...

Interesting to note, though, that D54 actually appears to be a transistor...
