I've bought from W&W for a variety of radios. So far quite pleased. Their
prices seem to be less for some applications, the same for others. The FT530
uses the FNB25/26/27 series. W&W sells these from $35 to $49, with various
models from 7.3v/600mah to 12v/800mah. They have a 7.2v/1500mah as well. I'm
not at all brand-loyal 'tho, the moment somebody offers a better deal....

I'm looking for 1 or 2 12v, ~600 mAh batteries for my Yaesu
FT-530.  I see that HRO's selling the Yaesu battery for $85 or so, with
another ~$100 for the desk charger.  Periphex lists a 12v, 800 mAh
battery for $40.99, but they call it a FNB-11, and I think my 530 needs a
-27.  Also, I hear that W&W Associates have good batteries, but I don't
see prices listed.

Are there any comments on the relative quality of these
manufacturers?  Price?  I'm also looking for a desk charger; how much
should I expect to spend for that?  Customer service?  Any other
information would be greatly appreciated!

Battery Qs for HT

I've got the Periphex 12v - 800 maH battery for the FT530.  Works great.

The only thing I've noticed about Periphex is that the fit of the last
two batteries I've bought has been tighter than I like.  A careful
inspection of the interface shows that it doesn't quite match the
Yaesu battery.  I've filed a bit of plastic to fix it.  It's not
a big problem.

I don't have any experience with W&W or Periphex, but I have bought a couple
of batteries for my FT-530 from E.H.Yost (608)831-3443 and have been very

I also bought just the battery insert for the FNB25 for $16.00 (but its quite
a job to cut open the old battery pack and put in the new batteries - Yaesu
glues the batteries into the pack making it hard to get open).

I am the president of a college radio club (W1YK) and several
members have given me great reports about Periphex batts.  I've heard
that they're usually better than the original batts.
