Here is a piece of early broadcasting and ,recording history up for
auction. Prior to the introduction of tape recordings in the
early 50's. radio stations and studios cut their own records,
know as soft cuts. A diamond cutting head was used on a lathe, the
depth of the cut monitored, and the number of lines per inch
selected by the operator. This here ,the unit of choice was a RCA
Type 70-D Cutting Lathe and turntable Model MI-11801-B, serial
number 1586. This lathe is a one owner lathe from one of
Canada's oldest radio stations , and is in very good condition.
Considered very rare, this is your chance to own a piece of
broadcasting history, with a low reserve. Anything with the logo
RCA is continuing to increase in value, especially the very
rare items, and you can bank on this vintage collectable as
well!!
The unit's are not as heavy as you may think, so shipping
shouldn't be too much of an issue. If you have any questions,
please feel free to contact me before you bid. Happy Bidding
