Red Wave Radio

Anyone know if it is possible to make the 4s patch cord used to program the
radio with your PC. I have not been able to find one, everyone says that
the cord is on backorder. Does the patch cord plug into the mic jack or the
packet jack? Can anyone shed some light on this topic. Thanks in advance.

This pops up about twice a month on this newsgroup.  The cable is more than
a patch cord, it contains electronics in the hood of the DB-25.  It plugs
into the packet connector.  The electronics is assumed to be level
converters (although it may be a RS232 to audio converter as it plugs into
the packet connector which is expecting to pass and receive packet audio
tones to a TNC).

No one has been able to publish a schematic.  They do seem to be hard to
come by -- Europeans tell me that they can't be had at all there.

I bought mine at AES -- (and they ship internationally).  I have used it to
program my TM-V7A and my TM-G707A, both with the free software that Kenwood
provides on their web site.  It works FB.
