Well, I love my R-2, as it is the perfect size for me, and exhibits
better sensitivity in the 800MHZ band than my AR2700. But, this is
one person's opinion. You have to weigh certain factors, like the
fact there aren't any numeric keys and it wont trunk-track. i am
lucky enough to live in an area (Cincinnati, Ohio) where the voters
continually turn down a levy to upgrade the communication system. The
one feature I love about the R2 is the CTCSS search and decode, a must
if you live in a non-trunked, heavy traffic area. I notice your
e-mail is Italy, so I am at a loss as far as vendors. Here in the
States Lentini is selling them for $199.99 delivered, but it would be
a US "neutered" version.
