I recently acquired a nice used Icom 765. I have heard reference to a
mod that replaces the switching diodes with pin diodes to improve the
receiver performance. Does anyone have any details on this mod?
Someone told me there was an Icom service bulletin on this update but
I cannot find any info on it. I do have the service manual though.

Also, there is a commonly posted mod that supposedly restores the
passband tuning (PBT) function like it was on the 761. However, there
appears to be some discussion as to whether this actually restores
true passband tuning. Has anyone done this little mod and if so, what
was your experience with it?

I have a '761.. wonder if that PIN diode mod works on the '761?

Not worth the time and expense for EITHER rig.

Find a replacement for that *** "hissy" audio amp IC, and now your on to
something good.
