Local and s.w.stations on digital audio services on cable TV systems

In the Dec 9, 1992 issue of _Radio World_, an article describes a digitized
audio service that subscribers can receive various programs over.  And that
you can "tune" it like a radio to receive various "stations".  Vision cable
of Bergen County, NJ has BBC1 and Japan Radio programming available, and in
Clearwater, Fla. they have "The Greek Voice".  This mag, being a radio
station trade freebee, discusses that radio stations could give their
audio programming in a digital format to be piped over this service.
I could see a station using this service to get its audio from the studio
to the radio transmitter via this CATV based path (assuming that the same
cable company is present at both sites).  Or at least a backup path.
