Radio Romania International reception

Radio Romania International reception

Post by Ted » Sun, 30 Jan 2000 04:00:00

I'm curious to know if anybody else in the US is able to listen to Radio
Romania International's broadcasts.  I'm in upstate New York in a
reasonably open location, and I'm not able to pick up any of the
programs that are listed in their schedule, with the exception of the
1300 UTC broadcast for Europe on 15390 kHz (not the one allegedly sent
to Canada on 15335 and 17805) and the 1700 UTC broadcast for Europe on
15365 kHz.

The schedule for North America, which I received from them via e-mail
last October, is as follows:

23.00 - 24.00                  11.940;   9.570
02.00 - 03.00                  11.830;   9.570
04.00 - 05.00                  11.830;   9.570
06.00 - 07.00                  11.830;   9.530
13.00 - 14.00                  17.805; 15.335

(all times, of course, are UTC)

I'm using a cheap receiver, admittedly (just a Radio Shack DX-375 with
the 70cm telescoping antenna that comes with the receiver), but I don't
have much problem picking up the broadcasts of Radio Bulgaria, the Voice
of Turkey, or the Voice of Greece, so I don't think the problem is with
the receiver.

Is the above schedule completely wrong?  Any help you can give me would
be greatly appreciated.

Radio Romania International reception

I picked them up tonight at 0600-0630 UTC on 11830, 477 here on the left
coast. They also said 9530 was being used but I had a Canadian station
on that frequency.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

Radio Romania International reception

I get a rather weak signal of Radio Romania in Chicago.  I use a Radio
Shack DX-392 with an amplified antenna and some wire around the windows.
