Immediately after I picked up a new YachtBoy 400 the manual
disappeared. I imagine it will turn up again, but in the meantime I'd
sure like to figure out how to change from 9 kHz channel spacing to 10
kHz. Can anybody point me to an online manual, or just give me the
secret -- I've tried every combination of buttons I could think of!

It's pretty quick:

Turn the radio off.

Press the "AM" button.

Press the "STEP" button.

You should see "10KHz" in the display, where the time would normally be.

Repeat the process to switch back to 9KHz steps.

the 400 is set up at factory for 9 khz spacing. To change to 10 khz:

With the radio OFF, press and release the AM button once.

Immediately press and release the STEP button. "10 KHZ" now appears in
the right side of the display and will disappear in a few seconds.

The change will be permanent in the radio's memory as long as
batteries are not removed for 10 minutes or more. Use same procedure
to return to 9 khz spacing, if desired.

(there is no way anyone can figure this out without the manual)

I ordered a refurbed one from Universal and they didn't send me a manual.

It is apparently in the mail. (And taking its time.)

Anyways, you can find a manual from the Grundig web site. I don't
remember where, though. (It took a bit of searching.)

There's a site in Canada where you can d/l that manual in PDF format.. just
do a Google search on "Yacht Boy 400 manual".

My manual just says to use the Step button. Says it switches from 10, 9 and
1 KHz. Says it doesn't work in FM.
