Radio Shack sale AM-FM pocket radios

Today, I went into my local Radio Shack store to buy an
Optimus 12-174.  This is a clone of the Sangean DT-200V
AM-FM-TV Sound shirt-pocket radio which Radio Shack sells
for $59.  When I got to the counter, the sales clerk told
me it was on sale for $49.  He also told me that the
Optimus 12-797, which is a clone of the Sangean DT-300, is
also on sale for $49.  I choose the 12-174.

I havent seen a mention of a sale on these units on
Radio Shack's website.  This could be just a local
store sale but if anyone is interested in these models,
a phone call to your local RS store could be worthwhile.

Good choice.  The 12-174 is a better performer than the 12-797.  I
once bought the latter, hoping for a slightly smaller unit, but the
tuning is much better on the 174.  Adjacent channel separation on AM,
in specific, is somewhat lacking on the 797.
