SANGEAN SENSITIVITY?

How does dx398 stack up againist the old dx390-392 series as far as
sensitivity? I have been very happy with the 390s.

I believe the sensitivity would be similer. I had two 803a's(DX440) and they
were about the same. I even think the peculiar wired external antenna jack are
the same. I recently talked with a DX390 user that confirmed this about the
external antenna jack. Partially inserting the antenna plug brings more
sensitivity on the lower frequencies.

Better in sensitivity, better in selectivity. One of the finest portable
radios ever made.

Bingo! I had been noticing this as I played around on the MW band...

I have a 390, a 392 and a398. Sensitivity is close enough on all three that
a clear distinction could not be made. I use the 390/392 more often though
and if I had to get rid of one, it would be the 398. The filters are better
on the 390 and it has a better speaker and higher power amplifier making it
sound better. Personally, I also prefer the BFO.

I'd second Clint's experience; and in my case I've since sent back the 398.
I keep having to de-tune the 398 to get rid of muffled audio (compared with
the 392).
