Two New SW Radios from Tandy/Radio Shack

Two New SW Radios from Tandy/Radio Shack

I just got my new 1991 Tandy/Radio Shack employee from a friendly employee
who gave it to me early. Radio Shack has two new shortwave receivers this
year and has discontinues that terrible DX-360 multiband portable.

The DX-440,aka Sangean ATS803A is still being sold at $199.95 US

The first new radio is a small, digital portable.  It is smaller than the
DX-440 and looks a lot like one of the new Phillips models.  It has no
tunning dial, just "up/down" tunning buttons.  It covers MW and FM
broadcast bands and about 3.5-9.5 and ???-21 megahertz.. again the same
range as one of the new phillips models.  It has 5 memories on each band,
built in clock and alarm, and runs on batteries.  It costs $119.95.  It
looks, is priced, and has the same features as this new phillips model I've
seen newly in catalogs.

The second new radio is an analog tunning model covering long wave, medium
wave, FM, and several shortwave bands... it looks like it covers the
"standard" shortwave bands, but I can't tell from the picture.  It looks
like any of several lower priced analog receivers from Sony, Phillips,
Panasonic, and sangean.  Could be any of them.  Looks like a good basic,
portable analog model.  Likely perfect for people wanting to hear "the
biggies", or a model for on the road.  Price $69.95.  I'll get the full ad
copy posted in a day or too.

I can't say how good these are or are not from looking at them in the
catalog!  Only time, and Larry Magne :-) will tell.

This radio though different in looks, has the exact same specs. as the
$49 model sold by DAK. Which is thought to be made by Phillips. So if
your interested in this model consider the DAK model and get it for 1/2
  price.
