All others don't work. I tried a bunch at Rat Shack.

This is true. However, if the voltage is high and the adapter is not regulated,
it must be regulated within the radio itself.
You see, I used to use un-regulated adapters with no problem. Now I can only
use a regulated one. I believe the 398 has a voltage regulator that has gone
bad. All I have to do is find out how to fix it. (Thanks to Jim Bowlin)
